RHUS TOXICODENDRON OR RHUS TOX, POISON IVY HEALS
Most people cringe when they hear the name poison oak. Often people have encountered the plant while hiking and developed a persistent itchy, burning rash.
Remember, homeopathic remedies are made from minute doses of material that are potentized until the substance is rendered harmless. Potentization is a process where a substance is repeatedly diluted and succussed (a rapid shake that ends with a bang against a hard surface) in a controlled manner to create a powerful medicine. Remedia, a homeopathic pharmacy in Austria, has videos showing how some remedies are made.
Potentized Rhus tox is a wonderful homeopathic remedy for injuries to tendons and muscles after over exertion. Especially important if the injured part feels worse when cold or wet and better with warm applications.
Rhus tox can also be a useful remedy to relieve itchy, water-filled skin rashes. There are many homeopathic remedies for skin rashes. One needs to listen to the cues that indicate the correct remedy. A person needing Rhus tox will feel better when bathing the affected area with hot water. This can include poison ivy rash, poison oak rash, herpes or shingles. Rhus tox has a peculiar symptom that might help a beginner choose this remedy, the person affected with the rash would have a strong craving for cold milk.
