Are You A Healthy Weight?

Often weight and health are considered to be synonymous. If are the correct weight, you must be healthy. If you are not the correct weight then you are not healthy. Many women are not certain what the correct weight is for them. For some heath and weight are a cause of anxiety. Here is a quiz to help determine if you are a healthy weight.

CHECK ALL THAT APPLY

❏ I worry more about how I look than my health.

❏ I often try the latest diet.

❏ I feel guilty if I eat my favorite foods.

❏ I am confused about which foods I should eat.

❏ I often skip breakfast.

❏ Lack of time or energy keeps me from being physically active.

❏ I spend two or more hours a day watching TV or playing on the computer.

If you checked one or more questions of the statements above, then it’s time to make healthy food choices and become more physically active. It can help you feel better, improve your health and improve your weight.

The struggle to maintain a healthy weight and eat better is very common, but it can be easier than you think. Be realistic-small changes can lead to big results over time.

SMALL STEPS CAN MAKE BIG CHANGES

If you are not comfortable with your weight or you just want to make healthy changes, only small steps are needed:

  • Pack more nutrients into your food choices. Replace a high-calorie, high-carbohydrate snack with a lower-calorie, lower carbohydrate snack such as a piece of cheese or fruit.
  • Move more. Walk for 30-60 minutes every day.
  • Track what you eat and how much you eat. Eating up to 50 extra calories each day could make you gain up to 5 pounds in a year.
  • Losing just 1-2 pounds a week is a healthy goal.

DON’T GIVE UP

If the scale says your weight hasn’t changed! You may find that you lose fat and gain muscle, which can make your clothes fit better. Losing a little weight can make a big difference by lowering your blood pressure and improving your blood sugar level.
