ADDRESSING LEARNING CHALLENGES WITH HOMEOPATHY
A growing number of parents today have a child diagnosed with attention deficient disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), or another learning challenge. What does this mean? There are many symptoms such as excessive activity, difficulty focusing, or unmanageable conduct. There are many theories about causes including vaccinations, pre-natal or birth traumas, systemic yeast infections, artificial additives in foods, body care and cleaning products, cell phone radiation, as well as environmental toxins.
Physical health issues can include chronic ear infections, incontinence, (bed or daytime wetting), asthma, eczema, constipation, congestion and even seizures. There can be difficulties falling asleep, staying asleep, nightmares, and even night terrors.
Learning dysfunction might include short attention span, impatience or distraction, neuro-muscular involvement, and cognitive and perceptual disturbances. Behavioral challenges might include unresponsiveness to discipline, poor self-control, unkindness to pets, and impulsive or compulsive actions such as repetitive touching and chewing on clothes or other objects.
THIS BEHAVIOR CAN BE DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND
Signs of these challenges are often observed in infancy. As a child grows, it is difficult for parents to understand their child’s actions. It is important to remember the child is not in control of his behavior. There are actual brain anomalies at play. Studies have shown brain function has decreased blood flow and less neuron activity when compared to a normal brain. Punishment for uncontrollable behaviors can lead to low self-esteem and compound matters.
MEDICATIONS ARE NOT ALWAYS THE BEST CHOICE
Previously medications were the only hope for children. Side effects can be serious and range from actually aggravating behavioral symptoms, interference with sleep and appetite, dizziness, drowsiness, hypertension, racing heartbeat, and/or lowered threshold for seizures. Children are often placed on multiple expensive medications to counteract side-effects.
NATURAL APPROACHES HOLD A KEY
A healthier option might begin with strengthening the family environment. Setting up positive reinforcement and encouraging learning activities that are interesting to the child might help increase attention span. Eliminating over-processed foods and added artificial colors and flavorings from the diet may help. Consider Homeopathy as another possible tool to redirect and restore balance.
HOMEOPATHY – A SAFE TOOL
Homeopathy addresses the whole person, using minute but potent doses of natural substances to stimulate the body’s own self-healing capacity. A Homeopath works closely with parents and their child on a journey to establish health. A Homeopath wants to understand your child and the way your child experiences the symptoms, which led to the diagnosis. A remedy is then matched to his particular state. With an appropriately chosen remedy and supportive therapeutics the child may begin to concentrate better while other symptoms turn around. With Homeopathy, there are rarely side effects and the rule is to use the smallest amount of medicine possible to effect maximum healing. The changes can be so gentle and effective.
