THE UNVEILING OF THE STATUE OF HAHNEMANN DEDICATED TO THE US

On June 21, 1900, a monument of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) , German physician and founder of homeopathy, was dedicated and presented to the US by the American Institute of Homeopathy. It is located on Scott Circle, in Washington, DC.

On that day a crowd assembled for the event. After the ceremony, the veil covering the statue was drawn aside by Misses Sarah and Rachel McClelland, daughters of Dr. McClelland, and Miss Katherine Custis, daughter of Dr. Custis, when the figure of Hahnemann, in bronze, was revealed in its imposing majesty, and when, amid the inspiriting strains of the Marine Band playing “America,” President McKinley and the other distinguished guests rose to their feet, and with demonstrations of delight saluted the beautiful work of art that appeared to their admiring gaze.

ODE BY DR. HELMUTH OF NY
When the excitement had subsided, Dr. William Tod Helmuth of New York, the poet of the occasion, was introduced, who, in a prelude, informed the company that the poem which he would deliver contained references to the great discoveries made in the nineteenth century, and also a tribute to the memory of Hahnemann. The poem is as follows:

ODE TO HAHNEMANN

By Dr. Helmuth

I
Oft times in far off regions of the north,
When Autumn’s glories all the woods disclose,
The sinking sun its golden rays pours forth,
Till all the scene in quivering splendor glows.
Then show-capped peaks grow rosy in the light,
And sapphire clouds are touched with points of fire,
Which, sinking slowly in the arms of night,
Watch, ling’ring still to see the day expire.

II
And so the century in grandeur dies,
Reflecting splendor on her closing years,
Where genius-born her myriad conquests rise
‘Midst hopes triumphant and ‘mid seas of tears.
Arise, O Man, and let thy heart rejoice,
That thou wert born in these prolific times,
When science teaches with prophetic voice
And art in majesty her place defines.

III
Amid the ashes of defeated hopes,
Amid the wreckage of a thousand lives,
That strew the pathways on Ambition’s slopes,
The mighty genius of man survives;
And Fame, fair goddess in her proud array,
With golden trumpet pointing to the sky,
Sounds thro’ the arch of Time her grandest lay,
The works of men whose names can never die.

IV
By Darwin’s thought the problem of our lives,
So long unsolved, this century proclaims
In one great song “The fittest still survives.”
“Natural selection forever reigns.”
And hark! along Time’s avenue there peals
Resounding anthem through the trump of fame,
As Herbert Spencer to the world reveals
The science that hath glorified his name.
Now Evolution stretcheth forth her arm
To hold “the fittest” that the Earth contains;
The cold agnostic shudders in alarm;
God still is God – omnipotence remains.

V
Five decades back our ’scutcheon, with its stars
And stripes in glory waving to the sky,
Was tarnished by the legal right that bars
Equality to men, and slavery
With all its horror, all its crime and lust,
Cast its black shadow o’er this mighty land.
Lo! then arose a fearless man and just,
And to the Nation issued his command.

VI
And lo! the fiends of internecine war
Rose like the hideous phantoms of a dream.
But slavery was stricken to the core
And Abra’m Lincoln’s will became supreme.
Oh! martyr’d President, thy native land
‘As this great century is dying now,
Uplifts in majesty its grateful hand,
And lays the wreath immortal on thy brow.

VII
The lurid lightning, flashing through the sky,
Is caught and held subservient to man’s hand,
Who ladens it with thought and bids it fly
Throughout the farthest confines of the land,
O’er mountain heights, across the ocean’s waste,
Past arid plains or through the trackless snow;
Revolving continents each other know.

VIII
The undulations of the summer breeze
An interchange of thought convey,
The force of tides that swell the boundless seas,
Man’s subtle intellect controls to-day.
The planets whirling in the abyss of space,
The rocks that tell us when this earth grew cold,
The glaciers age, antiquity of race,
The science of this century unfold.

IX
And Woman, last of God’s creative art,
(Thou great enigma to the creature man),
Where in the rush of progress is thy part,
Since first this century her course began.
Health, beauty and obedience were then
The chiefest characters thy sex displayed,
Adored by passion — trifled with by men,
Honored and loved, neglected or betrayed.

X
Look how she stands, now better understood,
The light of progress shining in her eyes
In all the glory of true womanhood
As high and holy aspirations rise
The arts and sciences stand open now,
The great professions beckon her to come
To join their ranks,-and still the marriage vow
Surrounds with sacredness the ties of home.

XI
But we who ‘neath the Æsculapian shield
Are linked together in one sacred bond,
To battle on humanity’s broad field
For health and life and all that lies beyond,
Who, when the pestilence is stalking forth,
Slaying its victims with mephitic breath,
Like whirlwinds sweeping from the icy north
Draw forth the sword to battle with King Death

XII
What has the closing century revealed,
To aid our efforts in th’ unequaled strife,
The constant battle with a cause concealed
That saps the very fountain heads of life.
What has it done? Let Anæsthesia sing,
Let Antisepsis clap her cleansed hands,
And microscopic revelations ring
With songs of progress from far distant lands.

XIII
God sent no suff’ring to the pristine man
Till Adam ate of the forbidden tree,
Then with a laugh the demon Pain began
To tear the tendrils of humanity.
The centuries rolled on, and still the race
Was born and tortured by unceasing pain,
Mankind forever striving to efface
Its ravages with antidotes in vain.

XIV
Then cane a time – O country mine, be proud,
For thou wert first the conqueror to find
Before whose breath the Evil Spirit bowed
Amid the thankful plaudits of mankind
The Surgeon now God’s inmost temple sees,
While Anæsthesia her censer swings,
The Demon conquered from his victim flees
And Science jubilant her pæan sings.

XV
To us, Sectarians as we ever are
(As all must be who hold a special creed),
Arose within this century a star,
To guide us in our therapeutic need.
The storm of opposition touched it not,
The shafts of ridicule pass’d harmless by,
Traditions- dogmas could obscure no jot
Of its transcendent truth and purity.

XVI
While Anæsthesia in glory stands,
And Antisepsis o’er the world displays
The grand results minute technique demands,
To bless the Surgery of later days,
Above them both with more expansive reach,
The Star of Truth, by Meissen’s sage defined,
Shines o’er the earth, humanity to teach
The splendid triumphs of the master’s mind.

XVII
No mighty truth since Time his course began
Has shown its full effulgence to the world
Till it has fought the stubborn will of man
By passion’s vehemence against it hurled.
Kepler and Newton, Harvey, Jenner, knew
And felt the obloquies of error born,
And Christ himself, the perfect man and true,
Was crucified amid the cries of scorn.

XVIII
Great is the hero, whose stupendous mind
Upon this dying age its splendor throws
Self-vanquished in his efforts for mankind,
By all the ardor perfect love bestows.
If statesmen, poets, scientists, and men
Who deal in life’s affairs, could later see
Their works as written by historic pen
They ‘d stand confounded by Time’s alchemy.

XIX
Could Samuel Hahnemann arise to-day
To gaze bewildered on this earnest throng,
To view this ceremonial display,
Perhaps to listen to this humble song,
Could he this monumental bronze behold,
Reared to himself, and graven with his name;
Could he by some mysterious voice be told
His name was writ upon the scroll of fame,
With streaming eyes-lost in profound amaze,
But modest still-the porcelain painter’s son
Would prostrate fall in gratitude and praise
For this fruition of love’s labor won.

XX
Look down, O spirit, from thine unknown sphere,
Behold the days of persecution past;
See this assemblage of thy followers here
Proclaim the triumph of the truth at last.
Behold the once torn waters of the sea
Of Therapeutics breaking on the rocks
Of doubt and error and uncertainty,
Tearing the life-boat with incessant shocks
Now, guided by Precision’s better chart,
On it the Mariner shall safely steer,
And, taught by thee, with thankfulness of heart
Shall watch the beacon and dispel his fear.

XXI
Among the benefactors of thy race,
Who stamp their impress on the fleeting years
That grow to centuries, shall be thy place
Of honor, ceded by thy willing peers.
Among the epoch-making men whose thought
Illuminates the world, there shalt thou stand,
Thy battle for humanity well fought,
Bearing thy mottoed banner in thy hand;
Then shall the sons of Æsculapius bring
Their votive offerings of thanks to thee,
And all the nations of the earth shall sing
The grand Te Deum-Homœopathy!

Myra answers the questions, "What do homeopathic remedies look like" and "How to open a self-dispensing lid."

I am often asked, “What do homeopathic remedies look like?”

Homeopathic remedies are made from a number of different substances. Some are made from plants, or minerals, and some are made from animal sources. There are thousands of homeopathic remedies that exist and new remedies are created and discovered every day.

LEGAL FOR MORE THAN 115 YEARS
Homeopathic remedies have had legal status in the United States since 1897 and are made in accordance with the law under the guide lines of the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS). One often finds HUPS printed on the label of a homeopathic remedy.

HOMEOPATHIC MATERIA MEDICAE
Descriptions of homeopathic remedies are cataloged in materia medicae, or medical matter, ordered alphabetically by their Latin names. Most materia medicae include information such as remedies’ common names, their origin, a description of what they are, how they are made, and the healing properties they impart. Also included are the names of the homeopath who discovered the remedy and the ones who have studied them for their healing properties. An example of a materia medcia which is commonly known around the world is Homeopathic Materia Medica and Repertory written by Dr. William Boericke and was first published 1901.

A DOSE IS VERY SMALL
Homeopathic remedies are made from small amounts of substances that have been repeatedly diluted and shaken in a process known as succussion. Often substances have gone through this process hundreds of times. By the time a remedy is taken by a client, there is only a minute portion of the remedy left. Yet this small amount of remedy can have a large healing effect.

HOW REMEDIES LOOK
Homeopathic remedies are made in pharmacies world wide. Not all the remedies are available at all pharmacies. In my practice I utilize approximately 10 pharmacies. Each with their own packaging and labeling styles. Some are tablets that come individually laid out on a sheet covered with blister-wrap. Some come in glass bottles, plastic bottles, others in small vials or tubes.

PELLETS
What is left when you take away the labels and the containers? Small white tablets or round pellets in various sizes. All pellets and tablets are very small.

What are the pellets made from? Usually sucrose or lactose or a non-sugar substance such as xylitol. The tablets or pellets are usually impregnated with the remedy in liquid form. The pellets are so small that a person is usually not affected by the sugar or lactose. If a client is sensitive to sugar or lactose, remedies can be ordered in a non-sugar base or as a liquid. Remedies in pellet form have a shelf life that can be longer than 10 years. If remedies are properly stored and cared the integrity of the remedy can last even longer.

LIQUIDS
Other remedies come as a clear liquid. Liquid remedies are usually packaged in a dropper bottle. They can also come in a bottle with a screw top lid. Liquid remedies are usually mixed with distilled water and about 20% alcohol. The alcohol is used as a preservative. Usually when one takes a liquid remedy only a few drops are used and are further mixed with water so the alcohol content is very dilute. If a client is very sensitive to alcohol, some times pharmacies can specially prepare the remedy with distilled water. Liquid remedies have a shelf life of approximately 10 years. However, remedies prepared without alcohol have a shorter shelf life.

SELF-DISPENSING LIDS
I am often asked how to opens container that comes with a self-dispensing lid. There are several types of self-dispensing lids. One common type is used by the homeopathic pharmacy, Boiron. Boiron is known for their “Blue Tubes.” Blue Tubes are small blue cylindrical plastic vials, about 2-drams in size with a clear self-dispensing cap. Blue Tubes are also referred to as “multi-dose” containers, because they contain enough pellets for many doses.

Break the seal on the bottle.
2. Hold the bottle with the lid facing down.
3. Twist the lid until 1 pellet drops from the vial into the lid.
4. The pellet is now in the lid. Remove the lid slowly, take care not to tip the remedy out of the lid.

I want to explain a bit more about the certification process for homeopaths in the US. There are many doctors and other types of practitioners using homeopathic remedies in their practice, but have they undergone the riggers of the certification process? Some have but many have not. As a consumer, it is important to understand the difference.

National certification by Council for Homeopathic Certification (CHC) meets US Federal Government standards established under the US Health Care Reform Act, and further defined through criteria established by the Integrative Healthcare Policy Consortium.

All homeopaths registered with the North American Society of Homeopaths are nationally certified through CHC.

The Accreditation Organization for Homeopathic Colleges (ACHENA) upholds the standards for homeopathy schools established under the US Health Care Reform Act. There are currently four North American homeopathic schools accredited with ACHENA. Homeopathic practitioners qualifying for CHC certification are currently NOT required to have graduated from an accredited homeopathic school.

Medications such as antihistamines or corticosteroids can be temporary measures. Cool compresses, working and sleeping in cool rooms and loose clothing can provide relief. For lasting results consider homeopathy.

At one time or another many of us have experienced an outbreak of itchy red bumps on the skin called hives. Hives are an outbreak of swollen red bumps or wheals on the skin that appear suddenly. They can itch or burn and sting. Hives can appear anywhere on the body including, lips, face, tongue, throat, and ears.

Hives usually come from an allergic reaction, a substance called histamine, released from specialized cells along blood vessels in the skin. These reactions can be triggered by a number of things such as certain foods, chemicals, insect stings, sunlight exposure, and emotional shock. Triggers can be different for each individual.

Medications such as antihistamines or corticosteroids can be temporary measures. Cool compresses, working and sleeping in cool rooms and loose clothing can provide relief.

Two homeopathic remedies that can help acute hives. Apis, made from the homey bee, helps hives that are large, flat and swollen. They feel better with cold application worse heat. Hives that come with intense itching and feel hot and burning and are, ironically, better with hot bathing may be helped with the remedy Rhust toxicodendron.

Hives lasting more than 6 weeks are considered a chronic condition and require the care of an experienced homeopath. I have been able to help many people overcome chronic hives with natural methods using homeopathy and an advance phytotherapy called gemmotherapy. Relief is long lasting.

Like vaccination, homeopathy involves inoculation by challenge with a like toxin, inducing a mild reaction in the body by simulating the larger reaction constituting the disease. Homeopathic remedies consist of minute doses of natural substances — mineral, plant or animal — that if given to healthy people in larger doses would cause the symptoms the patient is experiencing. A nosode is a homeopathic remedy in which the “active” ingredient is diseased tissue or a disease-causing entity (virus, bacteria, parasite, etc.) that has been rendered sterile.

Where vaccination involves viral or bacterial macromolecules that can induce unwanted side effects, homeopathic remedies are without side effects because they are extremely dilute – at some strengths so dilute that no molecule of the original substance is likely to be left in solution. The remedies are repeatedly diluted and succussed, or shaken vigorously with each dilution, to increase their vibratory field. The remedies work by stimulating the body’s own healing energy, rather like a tuning fork that sets disharmonious chords back on track.

HOMEOPATHY AS PROPHYLACTIC
“Like cures like,” the principle on which homeopathy is based, actually originated long before vaccines. It was formulated by Paracelsus in the sixteenth century. Samuel Christian Hahnemann, M.D. (1755-1843), the German physician who founded homeopathy, reformulated the principle in 1795, a year before Jenner made his cowpox vaccine discovery premised on the same theory.

Dr. Hahnemann was the first practitioner to use remedies prophylactically. He found that a girl whom he had treated with homeopathic Belladonna for an unrelated problem did not develop scarlet fever when the rest of her family got it. Then he found that “provings” of homeopathic Belladonna fit the disease picture of that particular epidemic of scarlet fever, and that by administering Belladonna he could both prevent and cure the disease. Other homeopaths later found that the remedy Ailanthus could prevent scarlet fever. Lathyrus was found to work against polio, Mercurius Cyanthus against diphtheria, Baptisia against typhoid fever. Other remedies were found to be effective against measles, mumps, chicken pox, hepatitis, and so forth.i

CHOLERA EPIDEMIC SPURS POPULARITY OF HOMEOPATHY
Homeopathy became the rage in Europe after cholera swept the Continent early in the nineteenth century. Hahnemann advocated the use of homeopathic Camphor to prevent or treat that disease at a time when he had never seen it but had only heard descriptions of its symptoms. The treatment proved to be remarkably successful.

According to Julian Winston (1941-2005), past editor in chief of Homeopathy Today, the mortality rate for cholera under conventional treatment in the 1830s was reported at between 40 percent and 80 percent. The mortality rate in London’s ten homeopathic hospitals during that decade was reported at 9 percent; in Bavaria, at 7 percent; in Russia, at 10 percent; and in Austria, at 33 percent (compared to 66% under conventional care.)ii

Cholera also swept the U.S. at that time, along with yellow fever, typhoid, and scarlet fever. When homeopathic treatment proved to be far more successful than conventional medicine in treating those epidemics, homeopathy spread like wildfire across the American continent. In 1844, the American Institute of Homeopathy was founded as the first national American medical society, preceding the American Medical Association (AMA) by several years.

HOMEOPATHY BEATS YELLOW FEVER, POLIO & OTHER DISEASES
Meanwhile, evidence for the effectiveness of homeopathic nosodes kept accumulating. In the United States during the 1850s, there were several epidemics of yellow fever in the southern states. Mortality from yellow fever using conventional medicine was reported at between 15 and 85 percent. Holcome and Davis, homeopaths in Natchez, reported a mortality of 6.43 percent and 5.73 percent, respectively, in yellow fever victims under homeopathic care during that period. In 1878 the mortality from the same epidemic in New Orleans was 50 percent under allopathic care versus 5.6 percent in 1,945 cases under homeopathic care.iii In the 1860s, a diphtheria epidemic struck. In the records of Broome County, New York, from 1862 to 1864, an 83.6 percent mortality rate was reported among victims treated conventionally, compared to a 16.4 percent mortality rate among those treated homeopathically.

It could be argued that the disparity in these figures was due more to the nature of nineteenth century conventional treatment, with its emphasis on bloodletting and mercury compounds, than to the virtues of homeopathy itself. But homeopathy continued to score successes in the twentieth century. Its remarkable performance during the influenza epidemic of 1918 was reported in detail in an article in the May 1921 Journal of the American Institute for Homeopathy. Dr. T. A. McCann, of Dayton, Ohio, reported that 24,000 cases of flu treated allopathic ally had a mortality rate of 28.2 percent, while 26,000 cases of flu treated homeopathically had a mortality rate of 1.05 percent. The latter figure was supported by Dean W.A. Pearson of Philadelphia, who recorded the results of 26,795 cases of flu treated homeopathically. In Connecticut, 30 physicians reported 6,602 cases treated homeopathically with 55 deaths, or less than 1 percent.iv

Nosodes also performed well in a number of twentieth century polio epidemics. In a 1956-58 study, a researcher named Heisfelder gave Lathyrus to over 6,000 children, in whom no cases of polio and no side effects were reported. Grimmer, a homeopath in Chicago, gave it to 5,000 young children, none of whom developed polio. In a polio epidemic in Buenos Aires in 1975, Lathyrus was given to 40,000 people with the same 100 percent success rate.

Council for Homeopathic Certification To End Fast Track Certification Program as of December 31, 2012. It is important for all homeopaths practicing in the US and Canada to get certified now.

This was just released from the Council For Homeopathic Certification (CHC) for the US & Canada.

Since 2006 the CHC has provided the Fast Track Program to enable experienced homeopaths to reach certification more easily. As we move into the future as a profession, it has become apparent that there is a need for CHC certification to reach national standards. To that end, we are applying to the National Commission for Certifying Agency (NCCA) to become the nationally accredited certifying organization for homeopathic practitioners in the United States. This will help bring homeopathy into the mainstream and better establish us as a profession.

NCCA requires that all certificates be awarded on the basis of standardized testing. Since the Fast Track Program does not require its applicants to pass an examination, it does not meet this criterion. As a result, the Fast Track Program will be discontinued as of December 31, 2012. All applications for the Fast Track option must be submitted by that date.

The CHC strongly encourages practicing homeopaths and teachers with at least five years of documented clinical practice to consider this option before it expires. For further information, contact the CHC.

Learn the facts about nutrition and labeling with metabolic balance®. Eating healthy foods that promotes good health. Achieve weight loss, balance hormones, lower cholesterol, reduce hypertension, and lower high blood sugar levels.

WHAT CAN BE LEARNED FROM A FOOD LABEL

A food label has important information but it is not the complete story. The nutrition information a food label is based on the daily value of one serving based on a 2000 calorie diet.

Trans fats are partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated vegetable oil. A certain amount trans fats, depending on the type of food, is not required to be on the label. For example, fat free yogurt can still have 0.1% trans fat. These are the fats that have been identified with cause of certain chronic diseases. Vitamin and minerals contained in food are identified by legal definitions which can change without notice. Sometimes they are changed by the request of a manufacturer for one specific product.

INSTANT CHICKEN SOUP

Above is an actual label from a popular instant soup that claims to be, better than mom’s. Most of the ingredients are factory manufactured chemicals, not genuine wholesome foods. The ingredients reveals ingredients mom would never use, “pasta (duram semonlina, egg, niacin, ferrous sulfate, thiamine, mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), onions, corn syrup, salt, carrots, peas, corn, cornstarch, hydrolyzed corn, wheat, and soy protein, celery, rendered chicken fat, sugar, disodium isonisnate, diosodium, guanylate, partially hydrogenated canola, cottonseed, and soybean oils, parsley, spices, silicon dioxide, sodium cassinate, milk protein, turmeric, dipotassium phosphate, mono and diglycerides, natural and natural and artificial flavors. Annotto color.”

HOME-PREPARED CHICKEN STOCK

The ingredients list for fresh home-made chicken soup would look more like this chicken, water, fresh vegetables, herbs and spices. Here is the nutrition label from fresh home-prepared chicken broth.

What is in the soup you eat? Take time to learn about the ingredients that go into the food you eat.

In my Metabolic Balance program, I offer weekly group meetings. At these meetings the group not only offers support, they learn life-long tools, such as how to read food labels and the effects that the artificial ingredients have on the body. It helps the participants make better food choices.

Nearly 40% of adults in the US have used some type of therapy that isn't taught in medical schools. With more Americans turning to alternatives, the US government founded The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine as part of the National Institutes of Health.

In the United States, more patients are turning to alternative and complementary medicine as part of their health care.

Researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) say that nearly 40% of adults have used some type of therapy that isn’t taught in medical schools. More than 40 US universities, including Stanford, UCLA, Duke, and The George Washington University, have integrative medicine centers.

Jean Ayers is not a regular patient. She is studying to be a physician assistant at The George Washington University, which includes taking an elective course in integrative medicine. Participating in treatments is strongly encouraged.

“In most of my training as a physician assistant, we look at a patient’s history and symptoms and then come up with a … differential diagnosis,” says Ayers. “Here we focus more on the symptoms as indicative of lifestyle and symbolic of larger issues.”

The Center for Integrative Medicine at The George Washington University Medical Center was founded in 1988 by Dr. John Pan, who had practiced as an obstetrician and gynecologist for more than 25 years. He says the center has about 6,000 patient visits a year. Most have tried conventional medicine.

“They have gone to Hopkins. They have gone to the Mayo Clinic,” says Pan. “They aren’t solving their problem. They are telling them nothing can be done, you have to live with it, and they are seeking the last resort.”

More Americans are turning to alternative medicine-some when they feel traditional medicine has failed them.

That includes patients like Anna Sterud. After a two- year battle with ovarian cancer, including surgery, chemotherapy, and a clinical trial, she decided to try vitamin C infusions.

“I’m very much for scientifically proven methods of treatment, but when you feel your time is starting to run out, you feel you just have to go 100 percent and look for alternatives, and that is what I did.”

With more Americans turning to alternatives, the US government founded The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine as part of the NIH.

“Our job here at the NIH is to bring really good science to these really interesting practices,” says Dr. Josephine Briggs, the center’s director.

Practices that are considered outside mainstream medicine include the use of dietary supplements, meditation, yoga, chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, therapeutic touch, and massage. A survey by the NIH in 2007 indicated 4 in 10 Americans use one of these practices, most often to treat pain.

“I think that the extent to which Americans are interested in these practices is a good reason for them being studied,” says Briggs. “We do our best to provide reliable information on our website about methods. That material is carefully reviewed by peers and scientific experts.”

Dr. Deirdre Orceyre is both a naturopathic physician and Chinese medicine practitioner at the Center for Integrative Medicine. She sometimes uses acupuncture for her patients.

“I try my best to use it in conjunction with the more Western model with natural or conventional and bring that in as a perspective and a healing modality.”

That is the philosophy behind integrative medicine: to complement Western treatments with other methods.

“For me it was very important to do both because I believe in the scientifically approved methods,” says Sterud, the cancer patient.

She’s encouraged that her oncologist has asked her to share information on her experience at the Center for Integrative Medicine.

This article was brought to my attention by a client. Thank you very much for doing so. At this time, homeopathy is not included as one of the modalities under the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. There are homeopaths working to make this happen. But the homeopathic community in the US is divided on the idea of being accepted in this way. Many fear government control will interfere with the way homeopaths are allowed to practice. Looking at the recent decisions in the UK and Australia to reduce the public’s access to homeopathy, I believe that homeopaths in the US who don’t want homeopathy to be included under the NIH have a valid argument. ~ Myra
